Saul Friedländer, 1932 in Prag geboren, überlebte das Dritte Reich unter falschem Namen im nationalsozialistisch besetzten Frankreich.

Er ist heute Professor für Geschichte an der Universität Tel Aviv und an der University of California, Los Angeles.

Friedländer gehört zu den großen Kennern der Geschichte der NS-Zeit und der Judenverfolgung.
